Production System Techniques to Increase Nitrogen Use Efficiency in Winter Wheat*

چکیده
Most current research on winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) focuses on increasing yields of either grain or plant biomass. Increased production costs and environmental awareness will promote the development of methods to increase the efficiency of applied nutrients. Nitrogen (N) is often the most limiting nutrient for cereal grain production and represents one of the highest input costs in agricultural systems. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of several short-term practices on nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) in winter wheat at three locations in Oklahoma. The variables evaluated included variety, nitrogen source, nitrogen timing, nitrogen rate, production system (forage only vs. grain only and a combination of the two), resolution of

Nitrogen nutrition and water stress effects on leaf photosynthetic gas exchange and water use efficiency in winter wheat.
The responses of gas exchange and water use efficiency to nitrogen nutrition for winter wheat were investigated under well-watered and drought conditions. The photosynthetic gas exchange parameters of winter wheat are remarkably improved by water and nitrogen nutrition and the regulative capability of nitrogen nutrition is influenced by water status. The effects of nitrogen nutrition on photosy...

An assessment of the nitrogen fertilization efficiency should not only include quantitativeand qualitative yield changes, but also an analysis of formation some indicators such as: Nharvest index (NHI), N use efficiency (NUE), N utilization efficiency (NUtE), N agronomicefficiency (NAE), N physiological efficiency (NPE) and N apparent recovery fraction (NRF).The objective of the study was the e...

The aim of this study was to evaluate the long-term (16-years) nitrogenefficiency after the application of organic and mineral fertilizers at two sitesLukavec (S1) and Suchdol (S2) with different soil and climatic conditions in theCzech Republic (Central Europe) and to determine grain yield and nitrogen contentwith regard to the requirements of protein content for baking quality of wheat. After ...
متن کاملCharacteristics of water consumption in water-saving winter wheat and effects on the utilization of subsequent summer rainfall in the North China Plain
Winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) grows in dry season but summer maize (Zea mays L.) coincides with rainfall in the North China Plain (NCP). Increasing rainfall use efficiency and harmonizing its utilization between the two species is an effective way to mitigate impact on groundwater deriving from wheat irrigation. One to four times water supply (W1, to W4) were employed in wheat, three wate...
